In Ostend – the one true City by the Sea – there are so many boating experiences, maritime attractions and events for the general public. Nevertheless, despite this diversity and the favourable reactions, a lot of activities and events proved to be little known to the general public. As a result, setting up a sound communication on this offer was more than necessary.
In 2013, the Ostend-based Franlis shipping company took the initiative in setting up a meeting with all the local maritime players in order to combine their programmes into a maritime network, which could then be promoted among the general public. The result came about in the summer of 2014: Oostende Maritiem is a newly established information office and ticket outlet for trips at sea, maritime attractions and events. The information centre is centrally located at the corner of the Albert I Promenade and the Visserskaai, directly opposite the Klein Strand and the refurbished Zeeheldenplein as well as the western pier.
The information centre, which has an elaborate leaflet offer and a manned counter, which visitors can turn to for information or to make a booking, is freely accessible. The office focuses solely on the maritime sector and is therefore completely complimentary to the Tourism Ostend information centre. Feel free to come and visit us and discover the vast range of maritime-related activities!
In addition to the extensive opening hours, this website can be accessed 24/7 to request information.
