Visit to the offshore wind farm

Embark on a visit to the very first Belgian offshore wind farm! During the trip, a guide will not only familiarize you with the coastal traffic and harbour signs, various buoys and beacons, but also with the observation of seabirds and sea mammals as well as crossing the international shipping lane. Your destination will be the Thorntonbank wind farm, located at 30 km from the coastline. The captain will sail past the southern side of the wind farm, which will not only enable you to see the various types of foundations, but also the high-voltage transforming station.

A Dutch-speaking guide will provide you with an expert explanation concerning renewable offshore wind power. During the trip, various work vessels will be crossing our path, carrying technicians and equipment, meant for the construction and maintenance of the wind farms. In case of good visibility, the other operational wind farms as well as those under construction will be visible. You will get the opportunity to make photographs or motion picture recordings and in the end, you will have a very different insight into the North Sea… A unique experience!
